Warning sounded on web's future – Thought Police are on Way!

September 15, 2008

Wow!

I will no longer have to think for myself. Some ‘body of the super intelligent” will do my thinking for me. They will decide “the truth” I’m to believe. Am I to believe the BBC,CBC,Fox,CNN,etc?

Are these the organizations that I am to trust to give me the truth? or are they the ones to be marked as the spreaders of disinformation?

If you are out of work, you may find gainful employment with the “Ministry of Thought.”

Some feared firing up the LHC would doom the Earth

The internet needs a way to help people separate rumour from real science, says the creator of the World Wide Web.

Talking to BBC News Sir Tim Berners-Lee said he was increasingly worried about the way the web has been used to spread disinformation.

Sir Tim spoke prior to the unveiling of a Foundation he has co-created that aims to make the web truly worldwide.

It will also look at ways to help people decide if sites are trustworthy and reliable sources of information.

Future proof

Sir Tim talked to the BBC in the week in which Cern, where he did his pioneering work on the web, turned on the Large Hadron Collider for the first time.

The use of the web to spread fears that flicking the switch on the LHC could create a Black Hole that could swallow up the Earth particularly concerned him, he said. In a similar vein was the spread of rumours that the MMR vaccine given to children in Britain was harmful.

Sir Tim told BBC News that there needed to be new systems that would give websites a label for trustworthiness once they had been proved reliable sources.

“On the web the thinking of cults can spread very rapidly and suddenly a cult which was 12 people who had some deep personal issues suddenly find a formula which is very believable,” he said. “A sort of conspiracy theory of sorts and which you can imagine spreading to thousands of people and being deeply damaging.”

Paying through the nose – via the Carbon TAX

September 13, 2008

I hope this helps you understand the massive fraud that is taking place under the guise of saving the environment. It doesn’t matter if you call it a carbon tax or cap and trade, it should be recognized for what it is.

Theft

Paying through the nose

Although the European emissions trading scheme (ETS) is set to cost electricity generators (and thus us, the customers) £2 billion over the next four years – as permits go up for auction – other major industrial companies are set to make hundreds of millions out of the EU’s “generosity”.

This is according to The Guardian, which is reporting that many companies have been over-allocated with emission permits, equivalent to nine million tons of carbon dioxide – all of which can be sold for cash.

Some 200 companies are beneficiaries covering all sectors, from steel and cement making, to car manufacturing and the food and drink industry. Says The Guardian, dozens of household names such as Ford, Thames Water, Astra Zeneca, Heathrow Airport, Toyota and Vauxhall are among the companies that could benefit.

One of the largest beneficiaries is Castle Cement, which makes a quarter of all British cement at three works in Lancashire, north Wales (pictured) and Rutland. While total CO2 emissions from the three plants have fallen from 2.3m metric tons in 2005 to 2.1m in 2007, they have been allocated 2.9m metric ton in permits for each of the next five years – an annual surplus of 829,000 permits.

At the current price of £21 per metric ton, the company could sell its surplus permits for £83.5m over the five years.

Perversely, some enterprises have been allocated fewer permits than they require, not least the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. It is predicting an annual deficit of 5,800 and is thus needing to siphon over £120,000 a year from its clinical budget to buy extra permits.

And, not only is the electricity industry having to pay for its permits, it is also 70 million metric tons short on allocation, which it will have to buy on the open “carbon” market. At current prices, that is nearly £1.5 billion added to our electricity bills.

The Guardian cites Bryony Worthington, founder of the campaigning group Sandbag, who notes that this “… means electricity customers are effectively subsidising heavy industry’s right to pollute, while being urged to make environmental sacrifices in their own lives.”

And that is they way things now work in this country – courtesy of our new masters in Brussels. But, from an organisation that brought us the Common Fisheries Policy, did we ever expect anything else?

Wind Energy – Can it last? – The Scam Continues For Now

September 13, 2008

Can it last?

On the back of the BBC having a go at subsidy wind farms, we now have The Sunday Telegraph joining the battle.

This paper is retailing a report from the Renewable Energy Foundation (REF) which asserts that wind is failing to deliver value for money and distorting the development of other renewable energy sources. Furthermore, excessive subsidies make them an expensive and inefficient way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The report is actually written by John Constable, of REF, and Robert Barfoot, the chairman of the North Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. And even this has a greenie tinge as they say the subsidy scheme is encouraging energy firms to build as many wind farms as possible because it is more profitable than investing in other more expensive forms of renewable technology, such as wave power.

Actually, the main problem is that the generosity of the subsidy scheme is diverting cash from investment in longer-term schemes such as nuclear, and also driving generators to invest in increasingly expensive gas, this being the most suitable back-up for wind.

Nevertheless, the report authors say: “The market for renewable energy is an artificial one created and maintained by government legislation. The question is whether this consumer-derived money is well spent. It is worth noting that the excessive subsidy offered to onshore wind development has drawn developers even to sites where the wind resource is very weak and the environmental impact severe.”

Elizabeth May Green Party Leader Calls Canadians Stupid

September 13, 2008

Ms. May needs to call her leader Maurice Strong. There’s no place for you in Canada. When you leave take Suzuki with you.

You, Suzuki, Strong, Gore and the rest of the UN elitists have been undermining this country for way too long.

Don’t let the door hit you on the ass.

You should all be quite happy in China.

Man decries 'intimidation tactic' Critic of Wolfe Island wind plant issued cease-and-desist order

September 12, 2008

What can I say – Industry and govt. working together = citizens take a back seat.

Posted By JENNIFER PRITCHETT WHIG-STANDARD STAFF WRITER

The Calgary-based company building a $410-million wind plant on Wolfe Island has issued a cease-and-desist letter to a citizen it claims is spreading “false and defamatory statements.”

Canadian Hydro Developers Inc. sent the letter in connection with a statement made by Wolfe Island resident Chris Brown, an outspoken

critic of some aspects of the project.

Brown, a local musician, is one of a handful of citizens who sit on a community liaison committee Canadian Hydro set up last year to answer local concerns about the project.

Brown regards the letter as an attempt to gag critics of the project.

“It’s an intimidation tactic,” he said.

Brown said he isn’t against wind power or the Canadian Hydro project on Wolfe Island. He does want to see the 86 turbines that are being erected there placed in areas where they won’t impact wildlife or people.

The cease-and-desist letter goes back to an e-mail Brown sent to former St. Lawrence College president Volker Thomsen and others, following an international wind energy conference at the college in June.

Brown said he hoped “the examples brought to light by the conference can prevent Wolfe Island from becoming an autopsy of grid monopoly and community exclusion.”

Canadian Hydro took exception to his comments, saying they suggest the firm “has no respect for the environmental and regulatory process and fails to consult with the community.

“Canadian Hydro has conducted itself in a responsible manner throughout the approval process,” stated the cease-and-desist letter.

The letter, written by Canadian Hydro’s Toronto-based lawyer Paul B. Schabas, warns Brown of the possibility of future legal action.

“Should you persist in this course of conduct, please be advised that our client will proceed against you and pursue all legal and equitable remedies available to it without further notice being provided to you. Kindly govern yourself accordingly,” Schabas wrote.

When theWhig-Standardrequested an interview with Canadian Hydro about the letter, the firm issued a short statement from Geoff Carnegie, its development manager for the Wolfe Island project.

In it, Carnegie wrote that Brown’s “claim of community exclusion overlooks three and a half years of community consultation by Canadian Hydro, as documented in the Environmental Review Report.

“The purpose of our letter to Mr. Brown was to insist that he act responsibly and utilize the relevant facts in his arguments.” Brown said he refuses to be quieted. “I will continue to exercise my right

to free speech and advocate for a full and transparent public review of this project, just as I will continue to participate in the community liaison group to ensure proper communication between proponent and citizenry,” he wrote in a response to Canadian Hydro.

Elizabeth May to be Included in National Debate

September 10, 2008

So, Ms. May is on the Agenda now as she should be.

It’s time for the folks of Canada to take a closer look at their environmental sweetheart.

She claims to be a Christian but hangs out with and promotes the people who want a one world religion based on the pagan earth goddess Gaia.

They blame the Christians for hurting “mother earth” through industrialization.

I’m not picking on Ms. May, just attempting to educate Canadians before they get to the polling booth on Oct. 14th

I will be posting about the other candidates in the coming days.

I think the issue this election will be trying to find a candidate who is not a traitor to this country.

Take a little time and check out the links.

BLACKOUT BRITAIN WARNING – A Warning for Canada and the USA

BLACKOUT BRITAIN WARNING

Power cuts ‘could spark disorder’

Sunday September 7,2008

By Jason Groves

Britain is “quite simply running out of power” and blackouts are almost inevitable within the next few years.

This is the stark warning from the head of an energy think-tank who believes power cuts could be serious enough to spark civil disorder.

Campbell Dunford of the respected Renewable Energy Foundation  said: “It’s almost too late to do anything about it. Nothing will stop us having to pay very high prices for power in future.

“If we pull our finger out now we can limit blackouts but it’s going to be pretty grim whatever happens.”

Gordon Brown pledged last week to end Britain’s reliance on the “dictatorship of oil” but Mr Dunford believes the Prime Minister’s new interest in the security of energy supplies may have come too late.

Only last Thursday, National Grid issued an urgent call for power after a series of power station breakdowns. Suppliers were asked to bring all their available generating capacity online, including costly oil-fired stations.

In May, hundreds of thousands of people in Cleveland, Cheshire, Lincolnshire and London suffered blackouts when seven power stations were closed.

The electricity industry estimates it needs to spend £100billion on new stations to ensure supplies.

It criticises ministers for focusing too heavily on such untried renewable energy sources as wind and tide power, rather than making sure that secure new power generation was put in place.

The report concludes: “A near fatal preoccupation with politically attractive but marginal forms of renewables seems to have caused a blindness towards the weakening of the UK’s power stations and a dangerous and helpless vulnerability to natural gas.”

The REF warns that as many as nine million people could be plunged into fuel poverty, defined as spending more than 10 per cent of their income on energy bills.

Ministers are already under massive pressure to do more to help people trapped in fuel poverty this winter because of soaring prices. Up to six million families are expected to face a stark choice between heating and eating following the series of massive energy price rises that have made a mockery of Labour’s target to eradicate fuel poverty by 2016.

Mr Dunford said worse was to come: “Certainly we’re going to be heading to eight or nine million in fuel poverty.

“There’s a very real chance that power, will not even be there when you need it. That’s when you start worrying about social disorder.”

Ministers have launched a belated plan to plug Britain’s energy gap, including the construction of a string of nuclear power stations. power stations take up to a decade to build though and many experts believe the Government’s move has come too late.

Election 2008 Canada – Oh Canada – Who Stands on Guard For Thee?

September 7, 2008

Well it’s election time once again in Canada.

Who will you vote for and why?

My advice is quite simple.

If any party or candidate says they believe global warming or climate change is a real and present danger-stroke them off your list.

If they so much as mention the word “sustainability”, stroke them off your list. Find out the real meaning of “sustainability” by clicking the “Green Agenda” link at end of post.

If someone mentions the above, they have just proved they are too stupid to lead this country, or they are lying to you, or both.  Even worse-they believe you are stupid.

The political leaders in this  election are traitors to Canada.
Do a little research.
For decades, all major policy in this country has come from the UN via Maurice Strong and friends.

The influence of Maurice Strong and the UN runs deep through all the main parties in this country.

A fact that is truly unfortunate for the people who would like to believe their elected representatives serve them and their country. They do not.

They serve their masters.

A future, built on the fraud that is global warming, is what you are being asked to vote for.

In the end this election will boil down to – would you rather have cap and trade or a carbon tax.

Regardless of who we cast our vote for, we lose.

The main outcome of the election, cap and trade or a carbon tax, was cast a long time ago. Who wins the election is irrelevant.
The best we can hope for in this election, is that no party gets a majority.

If there is an independent running in your riding, vote for them.

Take a look at their platforms

Our agriculture system sucks – thank the UN, Monsanto, and Big Agra

Our manufacturing base sucks – thank the UN and trade agreements.

Most of all thank this and previous governments.

As George Carlin (RIP) said “they don’t give a fuck about you” He was correct.

This election you will be given a choice between a carbon tax or cap and trade.

There’s a choice worth going to the polls for.

Global Warming – The Real Agenda

September 7, 2008

Editor:

I have always believed that in order to understand what is happening now – you first have to back up.

Here is a perfect example from 1998

Yes folks – global warming is a scam and it’s time to wake up.

In the 2008 Canadian Federal Election you are being asked to vote for your choice of TRAITOR.

Regardless of which party you vote for – you are voting for traitors.

In 2008 you need to vote independent or refrain from casting your vote.

If you vote for any of the main parties you are voting against CANADA.

In essence you have become a traitor.

Same holds true in the USA

What is the most important problem facing Canada? When the annual Maclean’s/CBC year-end poll asked that question, there was at least one clear answer: Not the environment; in fact, anything but the environment. Ranked by percentage of people who identified one subject or another, the top worry among

Canadians is unemployment (15%), followed by government spending, the economy, health care, national unity, taxes, poverty, education and crime. At the bottom of the list, garnering only 2% support, is the environment.

The possibility that 98% of Canadians are not in a state of high anxiety over global warming, freaky weather, ozone depletion, pollution and scores of other Green scares must be a teeth-gritting irritation to environmentalists. They have, after all, spent decades fertilizing the idea that we are on the brink of environmental disaster. Ottawa and the provinces have spent billions on the campaign, which includes turning the weather into a propaganda tool and the school system into an indoctrination camp that begins in kindergarten.

The poll is a testament to the good sense of Canadians. Despite relentless scare-mongering by bureaucrats and activists, Canadians remain unwaveringly fixed on a national economic agenda of growth and prosperity rather than on fantastic claims of apocalypse. When David Suzuki says global warming ‘is the most urgent slow-motion catastrophe facing humankind,’ nobody is paying much attention.

Except our politicians. Backed by an army of bureaucrats and researchers, governments are systematically preparing to shut down the engines of economic progress in the name of environmentalism. In Canada, the heart of the stop-growth campaign is Environment Canada, where key bureaucrats dedicated to imposing an environmental agenda on the country have seized control. The focus of their effort is global warming and climate change, which they intend to use as a lever to impose what can only be described as a new economic order.

The politician nominally in charge of all this is Environment Minister Christine Stewart. Whether Ms. Stewart fully understands what’s going on around her is unknown, but during a recent visit with the editorial board of the Calgary Herald she certainly demonstrated her conversion to the religion of global warming.

Ms. Stewart said that, ‘as minister of the environment, I am very worried about global warming,’ which for a politician isn’t saying much. Politicians are habitually ‘very worried’ about one thing or another. The trouble starts when they use their power to fix problems they’re worried about, even if the problems don’t exist. Ms. Stewart said she’s prepared to do exactly that. ‘No matter if the science is all phony,’ she said, ‘there are collateral environmental benefits.’

Environment Canada, therefore, is prepared to act on global warming even if there’s no such thing as global warming. On the strength of phony science, the federal government would still be willing to impose new taxes on energy consumption, cut economic growth, reduce our standard of living, and create bookshelves filled with new regulation governing most facets of the lives of Canadians.

In another statement quoted by the Herald, Ms. Stewart gave another reason for adopting the religion of global warming. ‘Climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.’ Here she gets closer to the core motivation of some of the leading global warming activists. Where socialism’s attempt at a global redistribution of wealth ended in economic catastrophe, global warming is being wheeled in as the next new economic crusade.

Consolidating Ms. Stewart’s statements, we reach some horrific conclusions. Whether global warming actually exists is irrelevant. It is, in the hands of government and environmental activists, a convenient front for the introduction of programs and economic policies that Canadians – and most citizens of the world – would not otherwise accept.

Ms. Stewart, perhaps unintentionally, has identified the two key foundations of the global warming movement. One is based in environmentalism, which essentially claims that human beings are a problem in nature. The other foundation is the old business of economic redistribution. Both these movements are linked in the international climate change treaty Canada signed in Kyoto. Environment Canada has already given up trying to examine the science. It never really tried. Instead, it spends hundreds of millions of dollars churning out propaganda on the hypothetical effects of global warming. Its latest reports include hundreds of studies warning of everything from spreading insect-borne disease to increasing forest fires.

The Maclean’s poll shows Canadians aren’t going along with the government or the claims of environmentalists. If they knew what Ms. Stewart has in store for jobs and living standards, and why, they might take a greater interest.Link
