Big Money Behind Global Warming Propaganda

March 12, 2008
Paul Joseph Watson reports:

A retired physics professor became the latest public figure to debunk the myth of a “consensus” behind man-made global warming when he slammed big money interests for pushing climate change propaganda that was at odds with real science in a speech yesterday.

Howard C. Hayden, emeritus professor of physics from the University of Connecticut, told a Pueblo West audience that he was prompted to speak out after a visit to New York where he learned that scaremongering billboards about the long-term effects of global warming were being purchased at a cost of $700,000 a month.

“Someone is willing to spend a huge amount of money to scare us about global warming,” Hayden said. “Big money is behind the global-warming propaganda.”

Hayden pointed out that global warming is taking place throughout the solar system, underscoring the fact that natural causes and not human beings are driving climate change, which has occurred throughout history.

“Yes, the polar ice caps are shrinking . . . on Mars,” he said, “On Mars, the ice caps are melting and small hills are disappearing,” adding that warming trends were also being observed on Jupiter, Saturn and Triton.

Citing the fact that human activity is responsible for just 3 per cent of carbon-dioxide emissions on earth, Hayden said that carbon levels in the atmosphere have been rising and falling for 400,000 years.

“We are at the lowest levels in the last 300,000 years,” he said. “During the Jurassic period, we had very high levels of carbon dioxide.”

“About 97 percent of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere comes from natural sources, not humans,” Hayden concluded, adding that global warming is being pushed not by grass roots advocacy groups, but by giant corporations who stand to gain from selling concepts such as carbon tracking and carbon trading.

You have to wonder what kind of return these global warming fear-mongers are expecting on their investment. World government, more taxes, or a newly created “green” industrial complex? Probably all of the above.

I can’t wait until the “War on global warming” becomes the next statist slogan.

Gore sustainable investment fund raises $5B

GENEVA: The sustainable investment firm run by Al Gore, the former U.S. vice-president, is about to be closed to new investors, having raised close to its $5 billion target.

Generation Investment Management will probably restrict inflows into its main Global Equity Fund next month, Gore and David Blood, co-founder of the company, said at a news conference Tuesday.

Is there any doubt why Al Gore is the greatest climate fear-monger in the world?

The media snowjob on global warming

Lorne Gunter, National Post  Published: Monday, March 10, 2008

Al Gore won a Nobel Peace Prize, not a science award.Ronaldo Schemidt, AFP, Getty ImagesAl Gore won a Nobel Peace Prize, not a science award.

Just how pervasive the bias at most news outlets is in favour of climate alarmism — and how little interest most outlets have in reporting any research that diverges from the alarmist orthodoxy — can be seen in a Washington Post story on the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), announced last week in New York.

The NIPCC is a counter to the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC. The group was unveiled this week in Manhattan at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change, along with its scientific report claiming that natural factors — the sun, El Ninos and La Ninas, volcanoes, etc, — not human sources are behind global warming.

The Washington Post’s first instincts (not just on its opinion pages, but in its news coverage, too) were cleverly to sew doubt of the group’s credibility by pointing out to readers that many of the participants had ties to conservative politicians, such as former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, and that the conference sponsor — the Heartland Institute — received money from oil companies and health care corporations.

That’s standard fare, and partly fair, so that’s not what I am talking about.

The insidiousness I am referring to is the unfavourable way the Post compared the NIPCC report to the IPCC’s famous report of last year.

After reminding readers that the IPCC and former U.S. vice-president Al Gore shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for their work on climate change, the paper then, sneeringly, added: “While the IPCC enlisted several hundred scientists from more than 100 countries to work over five years to produce its series of reports, the NIPCC document is the work of 23 authors from 15 nations, some of them not scientists.”

First of all, the IPCC and Mr. Gore won the Peace Prize, not a science prize, which only proves they are good at politics. They didn’t win the Physics Prize, for instance.

Also, while the former vice-prez may have invented the Internet (by his own admission), he is demonstrably not a scientist. Yet in the same paragraph as the Washington Post lionizes Mr. Gore for his work saving the planet, it backhands non-scientists for meddling in the climate change debate, never once showing any hint it recognized its own hypocrisy.

And the paper displays its utter lack of intellectual curiosity, too.

March 29th 2008 – all the sheep celebrate their stupidity in one huge, massive, world wide flock. The shepherds will smile that day as the sheep Baaaaaaaaaaa in unison. The herd mentality runs true and deep. The great Baaaaaaaaaaaaa will attempt to drown out the sound of reason.

Canada is in great peril, as are the freedoms of the people who call Canada home.

A Green Sticky Slime has attached its self to what used to be your brain. It’s not your fault really. You never saw it coming. Like mold it starts in a damp corner of your home barely noticeable. Over time it grows and spreads, but you still don’t notice it. It’s growing in dark damp places you never pay attention to – until it’s too late and your home has become uninhabitable.

Welcome to the NEW WORLD

Global Warming – The Debate Is Not Over

March 6, 2008

Al Gore made a movie called An Inconvenient Truth. The movie title should have been A Convenient Lie. It is through this lie that the idea of Global Warming is being forced on the world.

Al Gore ran for President of the USA. That alone should bring into question his ability to tell the truth.

It began when Al Gore was a young man…

In the fall of 1968 Al Gore claimed that he’d influenced the nomination acceptance speech of Hubert Humphrey….. Is Al Gore a Chronic Liar? You be the Judge

Al Gore in the USA and David Suzuki in Canada say the debate is over. There never was any debate – so how can it possibly be over. Anyone who tried to debate the subject was removed from the process.

It was decided that global warming would be used to scare people into accepting things they would never accept otherwise. Global warming is not based on science; it is political wrapped in the guise of science.

In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill …All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome.

The excerpt below is from Cloak of Green by Elaine Dewar published 1995 After you read it you will never look at the Green Movement or your govt. the same way again. Global Warming is a massive con of the public by the Greens, Govt. and the Media. One World Govt. is the end game for these groups.

One scientist, Richard Lindzen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was quoted in the Toronto Star directly criticizing the U.N. report. His position, as reported in the Star, was: “Any poll taken shows that scientists are highly divided except on one issue … there’s ‘no evidence at all’ of warming caused by humans so far.” Lindzen further argued that none of the global warming models had the physics base or the numerical accuracy to handle the question. Contrary to the U.N.’s figures,

Lindzen estimated an increase in average warmth of less than .33 degrees Celsius by the end «of the next century.1 Friends of the Earth Canada’s Acting Executive Director Robert Hornung (Robert Hornung is now the President of CanWEA. The Canadian Wind Association) added, was quoted denigrating Lindzen’s position by pointing to its impact: it would provide an excuse for governments or industry “to avoid taking action.” A physicist at the: University of Toronto then denigrated Lindzen’s motives, suggesting Lindzen had made himself “very prominent” by “criticizing the conventional wisdom.”

Newsweek carried a cover story on June 1 devoted to the Rio Summit. It opened with a description of a computer game called WorldS which allowed players to change certain fundamental environmental conditions such as measures of soil fertility and industrial capacity. Most changes produced a series of terrifying results. Donella Meadows, one of the authors of this model, said, “If changes are not made then our computer model foresees collapse within 50 years.” Dennis Meadows, her co-author, had predicted collapse once before—twenty years earlier, in fact, right on time for the Stockholm Conference. Meadows had then produced what Newsweek called the “notorious 1972 report ‘Limits to Growth.'” Meadows had warned then that population growth might tip the world’s economic or geological life support systems; into collapse within one hundred years.

About the Author

In 1988 Elaine Dewar began work on a short, upbeat article for Saturday Night about how David Suzuki and groups like the World Wildlife Fund were helping the Kayapo Indians of Brazil defend the rainforest. But once Dewar learned that the Kayapo were living off the avails of gold mining and the sale of mahogany, the story took a different turn. Dewar followed a trail of millions of charitable and tax dollars as they moved from business interests to environment and development charities to activists shaping the political climate on three continents. The result, seven years later, is Cloak of Green.

Al Gore Gets Roasted on global warming

March 3, 2008

Al Gore had been invited to the conference and to speak and that The Heartland Institute was prepared to pay his US$200,000 speaking fee – but he declined the invitation.
Why? Because he would have to debate real scientists.  Both Gore and Suzuki keep saying the debate is over. What they are really doing is trying to keep the spotlight from shining on the truth.

ONE WORLD ORDER

Climate skeptics roast Al Gore on global warming

Photo
By Steve James NEW YORK (Reuters) – Al Gore, who won the Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar for his environmental advocacy, was the main target on Monday at a conference of dissident scientists skeptical of his views on global warming. Several speakers at the conference on climate change whose theme was “Global warming is not a crisis,” took pot-shots at the ex-vice president and his film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” which won last year’s Academy Award for best documentary. “Whether we like it or not, it was extremely effective propaganda,” said Timothy Ball, an environmental consultant and former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. “It was appropriate that he got an Oscar from the land of make-believe,” he joked.

The gathering was sponsored by the Heartland Institute, a non-profit libertarian organization that studies environmental and other issues “from a free-market perspective” and argues that “property rights and markets do a better job than government bureaucracies.”

Attendees watched a movie, “A Climate of Fear,” by conservative TV commentator Glenn Beck, who charged that anyone who opposes the view that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are causing the earth to warm up, are branded “heretics or Nazis.”

“Al Gore’s version of climate change has no longer become science. It’s dogma. And if you question it, you are a heretic,” Beck said in the film.

The conference challenged a strong majority of world scientific opinion that has concluded that greenhouse gases are contributing to global warming.
This view has been backed by bodies such as the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, American Meteorological Society, American Geophysical Union, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

“Our imperfect understanding of the causes and consequences of climate change means the science is far from settled,” said Fred Singer, of the Science and Environmental Policy Project.

“Proposed efforts to mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions are premature and misguided. Any attempt to influence global temperatures by reducing such emissions would be both futile and expensive,” he said.

Lord Monckton, who advised former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, blamed “the international left,” for promoting that global warming is dangerous.

“It’s the media wanting a scare story,” he said.

World Temperatures according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. Note the steep drop over the last year.

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.
Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.
