Wind Turbines Being Erected All Over Rural Ontario – Destroying Lives and Property Values

June 19, 2008

This could be your home if you live in rural Ontario

The Enbridge wind farm Kincardine

115 turbines being erected right now

Today at 8 am the 472MWs of wind energy in Ontario were producing 8Mws

WOW!

Energy you can never count on

The Enron scam continues

Below is a video from the Suncor wind farm, Ripley Ontario. Since the video was made several families moved out of their homes because of the noise. Suncor has shut down some of the turbines so the people could move home.

Bigger setbacks are required.

A councilor who voted for the wind farm in Ripley, and has at least one turbine on the property, has been forced to leave the farm after suffering headaches, nosebleeds and sleep disturbances caused by the wind turbines. The closest turbine to the home is 700 meters.

Maybe that’s a form of poetic justice.

The Ripley council was warned about the negative affects that would occur if the turbines were within 1km of homes. Evidence suggests a setback of 1mile or 1.5km is required as a buffer between a home and a turbine.

Most setbacks in Ontario range from 300 – 450 meters.

How many families have to suffer, before the govt. wakes up to the reality that wind turbines are being placed too close to homes.

Or do they even care?

.

This also happened at the Port Burwell Wind farm, severe headaches and nosebleeds. The result, the family was bought out by the developer.

Wherever wind farms have been erected in Ontario, both people and animals are suffering from both noise and stray voltage.

I got a call from a farmer the other day, who says the feet on his bull are burnt because of stray voltage, he also lost many calves last spring.

YET

The MOE in Ontario continues to allow new wind farms while refusing to call for a health study or require realistic setbacks.

The bastardization of Ontario continues unabated

Wind Farms – Lake Huron Ontario – Video

May 31, 2008

Editor:

Tried to post a comment on this video by the Windsor Star but it wouldn’t accept comments so I had to bring it here.

These comments will make sense, or not, after you view the video.

The reporter in the video says the wind will power 440,00 homes. According to the ISO – for planning purposes they are rated at 10% of capacity or 44,00 homes. Big difference.

Ernie Marshall, in the blue coveralls, and his wife have moved. Ernie was suffering from health problems he didn’t have before the arrival of the turbines. Ernie says his health is slowly returning and his doctor is happy with his progress since he moved. Both Ernie and his wife say that after two years of living near the turbines, they are finally enjoying uninterrupted sleep. The neighbors Ernie said goodbye to are still suffering from noise, stray voltage and flicker, not to mention the flashing lights on top of the turbines every night.

The gentleman in the brown coveralls has moved as well. After the problems at the Epcor site he didn’t want to be around when the Enbridge site was completed. He is well aware of the problems created by wind turbines and feared he might not find a buyer after the turbines arrived.

Neither of these people wanted to move, but felt they had no choice.

Every wind farm in southern Ont. has impacted families in a negative way.

Bob Simpson, the gentleman from Enbridge says they will respond quickly to solve any problems. Unless Mr. Simpson plans on moving the turbines farther away from peoples homes there is nothing he or his company can do. For the next twenty years people will suffer the consequences of bad planning and greed.

Mr. Simpson mentions reducing emissions. Nowhere on the planet can I find any evidence of emission reductions from the use of wind turbines.

Germany has more wind turbines than anywhere else. They are in the process of building 20 plus coal plants. I would say their emissions are about to take a big jump. Wind doesn’t seem to have done Germany much good.

The number of fossil fuel plants closed as a direct use of wind energy – o – Zero – none – zip

Wind energy has doubled in Ont. Does that mean we are twice as stupid as we should be.

When the govt. the industry and the media are all saying how great wind energy is,it’s hard to accept the reality that is the wind industry – and that’s exactly what they are counting on.

A quote from a person living at the Suncor wind farm Ripley. When asked how it was living near the turbines. “I’ll tell you how it is, our life is shit since the wind farm came.”

Ripley has a 700 meter setback, The Enbridge and Epcor wind farms have a 450 meter setback.

A video of the Ripley wind farm can be found under videos at top of page.

Do some research on your own. Theres nothing on TV anyway.

Wind Company Pays a Visit

April 9, 2008

Editor:
I’d like to thank Canadian Hydro Developers for dropping by. CHD are going to build the Wolfe Island wind farm and the Melancthon II Wind Project. They have completed Melancthon l. Melancthon l resulted in people having problems with noise, both from the wind turbines and the substation. At least one family was bought out. Forced from their home. The fight continues in Melancthon.

We can only hope that CHD will be more considerate of people and their property in the future. Just because the MOE says the setbacks are adequate, doesn’t mean the MOE knows what they are talking about. If they did there wouldn’t be so many complaints.

CHD spent 21 minutes looking at 13 posts. Hope they found it insightful.

Have a question for CHD?

OMB Hearing Starts in Kincardine Ontario(updated July 19th)

April 30, 2007

“The People” vs the Municipality of Kincardine, the Ontario Government and Enbridge.

A small group of landowners are in for the fight of their lives. It has been said that this hearing will set the stage for the future of wind farm development in Ontario.

Today was the first day of the hearing and most of the day was spent figuring out process and time lines. Over the next seven or eight weeks testimony will be heard from people in Ontario and Nova Scotia who have had their lives ruined by the wind turbines near their homes. Setbacks will be questioned as well as noise levels. This small group of people is fighting not just for themselves, but for everyone who is threatened by a wind farm in their neighborhood.

The d’Etremont family of Nova Scotia was driven from their home by the wind turbines. A special thanks to Daniel for making the trip to the OMB hearing in Kincardine Ont. to share his story, in the hope that what happened to his family won’t be repeated.

Update 1 May 15th

Update 2 May 15th

Update 3 May 15th

Update 4 May 29th

Update 5 May 29th

OMB Decision Filed July 16th 2007-A very bad day for the people of Ontario. Everybody must continue too fight this McGuntiy Govt. and their ridiculous energy policy.

Kingsbridge l wind farm

Kingsbridge l wind farm just north of Goderich Ontario

If you followed the wind farm saga you will know that the story is the same everywhere in the world. Agents show up at the door of farmers or rural landowners offering money for their help to create clean renewable energy for the future of the county and their children. Before they know it they have signed a lease for up to twenty years.

Next get the local politicians involved and tell them how a wind farm in their area will create lots of high paying jobs and be a great source of tax dollars.

The last to find out are the people who will be affected by the wind farm. Both the politicians and the wind company assure the people that there will be no problems.

A little research and people are alerted to all kinds of negative effects like noise, flicker, sleep disturbance and property devaluation.

They go to council with their research in hand but it is ignored. They are again assured there will be no problems and that having a wind farm will create jobs, tax dollars and help solve the global warming problem. At this point peoples lives are put on hold while they continue to try and convince their council to look at the well documented problems that can and do occur. Most times they leave shaking their heads and wondering why their council can’t see the obvious.

It’s about the money and they are more than prepared to sacrifice you and your property to get it

The real truth about wind farms and wind energy is quite simple

. Take most anything they tell you and flip it 180 degrees and you have the truth

A wind farm in your area will creates lots of high paying jobs. Flip that statement 180 degrees and you have the truth.

Wind turbines are quiet. Flip that statement 180 degrees and you have the truth.

You get the idea.

So for the next seven or eight weeks they are going to fight this fight and they intend to win.

To all those fighting the scourge of wind farms around the globe, Don’t Ever Give Up.Your support is appreciated

Tomah Journal – Opinion

December 19, 2006

Letter: Windmills: Ask people of Kewaunee County

Stray voltage, cows dying from uncontrollable bleeding from the nostrils, decline of milk production, decreased property values, strobe light effect throughout the house, noise like a gravel pit, never having it quiet, poor TV reception, ugly, would never buy in this area again. These are but a few of the many similar responses to a survey done in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, on the impacts of the wind turbine operation. The only solution to alleviate some of these problems was to buy out the properties, thereby taking them off of the tax rolls. Seventy-four percent said they would not build or buy within one-fourth mile of the turbines. I recommend that Invenergy pay for a site specific study by an independent company to determine if these and other problems are possible to surface in the proposed Summit Ridge Wind Farm. At the very least, research the potential problems of wind farm development. It would be at that point that a wind farm ordinance be developed, after information is gathered. The people of Kewaunee County learned their lessons the hard way. More information is necessary to make any decisions that have such far-reaching consequences. Press Message

The NKPW (Nationaal Kritisch Platfom Windenergie) brings to your attention the outcome of the

2006 International Workshop on Landscape Ecology and the problems with wind farms

as held last week in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The parties signing the Seoul Green Manifesto, the NKPW and other European participants, urge the EU to take the appropriate measures as requested in the Manifesto to protect our Cultural Heritage from the wind turbines on land locations.

We share concerns about possible global warming and deficiencies in fossil fuels, and from that perspective, we want to emphasize that wind turbines should not be considered as a solution or part of any package tackling the problems. As an old technology, it offers not only no solution for those problems but it drains so many public funds that a real solution which should be based on innovation and research is blocked.

In the meantime the European participants have agreed to organize an European summit in Hamburg, forthcoming January, to bundle their resources. They will invite all countries of the EU to join them, with the purpose to oppose the internationally well organized wind turbine lobby.

We take this opportunity to disclose the key statements made on the press conference held on Jeju Island last week:

Erwin Thorius, Chairman SDE Denmark:

In the last three years no single on-shore wind turbine have been build in Denmark

Stein Malkenes, Chairman Naeringslivets Kystakson,Norway:

The reality is that Jeju Island Governement has to choose, because it is not possible to have both growing tourism and wind turbines; wind turbines have a proven negative impact on tourism

Ferdinand Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein, Chairman BLS, Germany

Soon we “celebrate ” the 20.000th wind plant, without replacing even one single small plant of conventional energy

Jim Mollet, Chairman NKPW, the Netherlands

The Republic of Korea impresses all participants with what has been reached. The Koreans refused to become followers of an old technology (wind turbines), and instead are purposed to become leaders in renewable energy by doing research and finding real solutions the world needs.

Information about this press message could be obtained from Jim Mollet, chairman of NKPW telephone number 0031 72 5023280 ja.mollet@planet.nl

Why are we building wind farms in Ontario.

The Ontario Liberals should scrap their wind energy policy NOW! Littering Ontario with wind turbines will not benefit the public. Lives have already been ruined by your wind energy policy.Property values have been affected. Countless hours of precious time and resources have been spent fighting your failed wind policy. Yet you continue to shove wind turbines down our throats .

Give it up Mr. Duncan.

Wind is not the answer, not even in a small way.
